Workshop on Plant genetic resources and Food Security in West and Central Africa

The Syngenta Foundation will sponsor research of direct relevance to its wider goal of improving the livelihoods of the resource poor.

Ibadan, Nigeria, April 26 to 30, 2004

The main goal of the workshop was to assess the state of Plant genetic resources conservation and management in the West and Central Africa region, and to explore mechanisms for strengthening regional collaboration in this regard. Organized by the International Plant genetic resources Institute (IPGRI), in partnership with the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD) with partial funding from the Syngenta Foundation. The output will help guide the work of the Global Crop Diversity Trust.
