Marco Ferroni
Executive Director
Marco Ferroni is the Executive Director of the
Syngenta Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture.
He is a Swiss national and joins the Foundation
from a distinguished career at the Inter-American
Development Bank in Washington DC, the World Bank
and the Swiss government where he worked in development
cooperation in the Foreign and Economic Ministries
(DEZA and SECO) in Bern.

Marisa de Faveri
Office Manager
Marisa de Faveri has been responsible for administrative
matters since 1992, initially at the Novartis
Foundation for Sustainable Development, and since
the start of 2001 at the Syngenta Foundation for
Sustainable Agriculture.

3.
Felix Nicolier
Head of Project Management
Felix Nicolier has worked at the Foundation since
1983, initially at the Novartis Foundation for
Sustainable Development and now at the Syngenta
Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture. He previously
spent 15 years working in the agricultural sector
in African countries.
In addition, Nicolier is a member of the Board
of Trustees of the Intercooperation Foundation,
as well as a member of the management committees
of Swisscontact, Third World Solidarity, and the
Swiss Commission for Research Partnerships with
Developing Countries.

4.
Nikolaus Schultze
Head of Strategy
Nikolaus leads the Foundations strategic planning
activities, as well as its performance and impact
assessments and activities building public private
partnerships for improving the livelihoods of
the rural poor. Nikolaus Schultze earned a Doctorate
in Pharmacy from Paris University and a Master’s
in Business Administration from London Business
School. He has held a number of positions in financial
management and business development in both private
and public sectors.
Most recently he led the Private Sector and Capital
Markets operations of the International Fund for
Agricultural Development ‘IFAD’ in
Rome and covered co-operation with multilateral
development banks, the European Commission, and
the private sector around emergency interventions,
recovery/post-conflict situations and development
assistance for the United Nations in Paris.

5.
Sharafat Ahmad
Communication Manager
Sharafat holds Masters’ in Business Management
from Geneva University and Environmental Studies
from London School of Economics. Previously, he
has worked for CPGmarket.com (Nestle), the International
Labour Organization, the United Nations and the
Mission of Pakistan to the World Trade Organization.
Sharafat is a Swiss and Pakistani citizen.

Therese St. Peter
Head of Partnerships and Programs,
NAFTA
Therese heads the Foundations partnerships and
programs for North America. Part of the Foundation
since December 2001, Therese directed food and
product safety issues management for corporations
and non profit organizations in The Americas and
Asia Pacific, and recently lead the Syngenta Foundations
policy and program development in Basel. She blends
private sector experience in product and project
management, public and regulatory affairs, law,
communications and stakeholder relations. Contact
