| Dr. Andrew Bennett - Executive Director
 Andrew
Bennett has over thirty-five years experience in international
development in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Pacific
and the Caribbean.
|
Andrew Bennett is Executive Director of the Syngenta Foundation.
He is President of the Tropical Agricultural Association
of the UK and Chairman of the Board Centre of International
Forestry Research (CIFOR). Previously he was Director,
Rural Livelihoods and Environment, UK Department for International
Development in London and principal advisor to government
ministers on policy and programs for the improvement of
rural livelihoods, better natural resources management,
environmental protection, sustainable development and
research in international development.
"Andrew's management and field experience, his research, and his expertise in public policy analysis make him an ideal choice," said Heinz Imhof, chairman of Syngenta and president of the board of directors for the Syngenta Foundation. "He will play a key role in framing and implementing Syngenta's commitment to improving the livelihood of resource poor farmers."
Bennett has a Doctorate from the University of Cranfield, a Masters Degree from Reading University, and a Diploma in Tropical Agriculture from the University of the West Indies. He is a member of the Council of the Royal Agricultural Society of England, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George.
"Through the vision and energy of Klaus Leisinger, the
Foundation's former interim director, the Syngenta Foundation
has already set its mark in building effective partnerships
addressing the challenges of poverty, hunger and environmental
degradation", says Bennett. "I am excited by the opportunity
to expand upon these achievements."
