Review 2007

As we move into our sixth year, the Syngenta
Foundation for Sustainable Agriculture (SFSA) is exploring
new approaches. As always, our goal is to improve rural
livelihoods in semi-arid parts of the world in sustainable
ways. We wish to promote innovative methods and technologies
to help farmers increase their productivity and income.
Our theme for this year’s Review is the empowerment of rural communities to improve their livelihoods through small
and medium enterprise development.
We look also at the farmers’ more timely connection to markets and better access
to technologies.
SFSA has been fortunate in its partnerships with government
agencies, national and international research institutions,
the private sector and civil society. Our work this past
year could not have been accomplished without the help
and alliances of the many partners
and collaborators who share our vision and improve upon
what we are doing. |
This year, we have a new format for the Review. Instead
of publishing our traditional hard copy ‘book’ we now
have a slimmed down six-page booklet that includes a CD.
On the latter is the full 24-page version in English,
French and German with links to websites of the Foundationand many of our collaborators and partners.
The further reading section on pages 24 and 25 provides
links to more extensive information on many of the subjects
covered in this Review. For those of you seeking more
detail on any of the organizations and programmes mentioned
in this Review, simply run your mouse over the name of
the organization to be hyperlinked directly to their website.
We do hope that you enjoy the new format and look forward to hearing your suggestions for how we can continue to improve our work and our impact. |
