The middle section is framed by the colors of the national flag of
Mali. Large blankets of this type were highly prized wedding
gifts, displacing the arkilla blankets that were traditionally
given at such occasions. Tapi blankets were used to decorate
the bed or the interior walls of the home. The Général Soumaré
is one of the boats of the Mali Shipping Company sailing between
Koulikoro and Gao.
